Powell's City of Books
The Autumn Rain has been dying to go to Powell's for quite some time, I on the other hand haven't been dying to visit the place. Some how a whole city block, three level high book store didn't appeal to me. Not that I don't like books, or don't like visiting book stores, but that much of a book store just seemed a bit overwhelming. Thus I embarked on our journey to Powell's City of Books a little bit skeptically this morning.
Mama, The Autumn Rain, the Brother, and myself spent three whole hours at the largest book store I have ever been in and I'm hooked now. I didn't come away with many purchases, but it wasn't for a lack of books. There were plently of books I would have purchased had the cash been in my wallet. As it was I came home with two books, a journal, and a planner.
My book selection consists of Gourmet Soups a cookbook my Carole Clements, and Flower Fairies of the Garden by Cicely Mary Barker. The Flower Fairies collection is one of my favorite 'series' of books, I love the pictures, but until today I've never actually owned a flower fairies book, now I do. The cookbook, well it's a cookbook what more can I say. I like cookbooks, I like to read the recipes and think that someday I will make them, and every once in a while I actually put the cookbooks to use, and even if I don't use the books they're still nice to look at, especially if they have color photographs and nice covers, which this one has.
The journal will be a nice addition to my collection of journals that is slowly growing. I'm not big on journaling, it takes time and that is something that I seem to be short on these days, but I do like to keep a journal on hand for when I do find the time to write in one. This journal has a cover of handmade papers that is really quite beautiful, it makes me want to write in it which I figure is a good thing, since I'm much more apt to journal if I have a journal that I like to write in.
