Lavender and Old Lace

"I've always thought my flowers had souls. . . they seem like real people to me. I've seen the roses rubbing their cheeks together as if they loved eachother, and the forget-me-nots are little blue-eyed children, half afraid of rest." 'Lavender and Old Lace' ~Myrtle Reed~

Welcome Summer

The strawberries in the garden are beginning to ripen and the 'Chocolate Cosmos' has blooms.
It smells like summer out side!
The pavement is warm to the touch of bare feet and the sun pounds down on you as you walk around town.
It feels like summer out side!
It's June 21 and we're done with school.
It is summer outside!
I can't wait to see what this summer holds for all of us, already there are so many events to look forward to, the first of which are Autumn Rain's graduation and visits from dear family members and adopted cousins.

Sunshine and a Good Book

Moonchild's favorite passtime today has been laying out on our Sonlight blanket soaking up the sunshine and reading her book.

The Kid Brothers!

My 'little' brothers are really awesome, even if they are both taller than me. Not every one can say that they are friends with their brothers, but I'm sure glad I can.

A Summer Challenge

I received an email from a friend last week with a cookbook challenge for the summer. The challenge was to choose a cookbook and cook/bake your way through it this summer. I decided the challenge sounded fun and thus I ordered two cookbooks for the summer 1. The Book of Salads 2. Luscious Chocolate Desserts. I thought the salads should balance out the chocolate, what do you think?

I may not make my way through both cookbooks in the space of a few short months, but I should make good headway, and it will be fun to have a store of new recipes at my beck and call. Besides, who could pass up a chance to bake your way through a chocolate cookbook?

A Face Lift

I have been wanting to play around with the layout of Lavender and Old Lace for a while now. Since I wasn't working at the tea room this weekend I had some free time to play around with my template and what you see now is what I came up with. The background graphics are compliments of Sandy's Graphics.

Cosmos

'Chocolate'
Features:
Uniqe chocolate-scented flowers add an unusual aroma to the garden. Striking in borders.

I added a new friend to my garden this week. Mrs. B brought me this unique 'Chocolate Cosmos' when we met last weekend for a camping trip at Castle Crags. I can't wait for the flowers to bloom and add their fragrance to my rapidly filling garden beds.
